Orange notebook reminder...

There are two sheets that you must fill out in the orange notebook. The white sheet is where you put in the number of hours you worked per shift and sign.

Then you must also fill in the blue sheet in the back.

Please only fill this out as you work each shift; DO NOT fill out for days ahead that you have not worked yet.

Yes, it's redundant but it's supposed to be. This information is used when cross-checking the Kronos system. The system you punch in and out with your UCard is the vulnerable digital Kronos system. This notebook is the only paper proof we have of your actual time worked. We use it in the event that something goes wrong with the computer system. Also we use it make sure you were actually here in person! :-)

COLOR PRINTER ON THE OIT SIDE!

Can it be? Do we finally have access to color printing on the OIT side? Yes! I was told yesterday by Mike F. that the color printer is now operational. The cost of a regular sized page is thirty-five (.35) cents.

Also, I believe that this printer, as well as the black and white printer, will now have 3 different paper sizes. We'll keep you posted once we know the details. Suffice it to say, you can let patrons know that the OIT color printer is here. Hopefully, this will decrease lines for the library-side computers...we'll find out when we do the next survey...

SPRING 2007 is upon us!

In the next two weeks, the LC supervisors are going to be conducting individual orientation sessions with every library student employee working at the LC desk. The purpose of this orientation will be to review the job responsibilities. There are some changes in the job responsibilities. The revised "What should I be doing while on my shift?" document is linked from this blog. Please be sure to review this document.

The last page is a checklist that we will be reviewing personally with each of you. We will be asking you to sign and date this page. Also, be sure to include your current contact email and telephone number on this page.

Thanks! We'll be seeing you soon! We're looking forward to another fun semester!

Here is a copy of a memo sent regarding the UCard printing system:

"Hi folks, As a reminder, the OIT Pharos Pay to Print system will be doing "Off Line Authorizations", This MAY send folks into a negative balance once the UCARD system comes back on line. So in short, it will be business as usual for anyone using the OIT Pharos System for printing while the UCard office performs it system upgrade next Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have any problems, please let me know so we can address any issues. Regards,
-- John Borichevsky - System Engineer"

This is referring to January 16 and 17...people will be able to print however their balances won't reflect their printing on these two days. Therefore, once their balances DO get updated, some folks will show a negative balance.

IM

We are now going to use a browser-supported Instant Messaging site called meebo for IM instead of Trillian. Please open it up on the left computer...ask your supervisor to show you how to log into the LC's meebo account. This login account will allow us to connect from users who have AIM, MSN hotmail, Yahoo, ICQ and gmail accounts.

This will mean that that browser will need to remain open all of the time (just minimize it).

Please be sure that the sound is turned on in order to hear when a user summons the desk (somehow the speakers keep getting unplugged). Very soon, users will be able to access our IM from a chat box on the LC page. This means that IM contact will probably increase...
