Speaking of exercise!

Whenever possible, when assisting users of the LC...please get up out of your seat and accompany them to the UCard machine, copiers, printers, etc. We've had some comments from users that it would help if staff at the LC desk could get up and help instead of simply pointing...

Thanks!

Customer Service As If Your Library Depended On It

All of us could use some customer service advice...couldn't we?

or

Get your exercise on your roves!

It's very important that when we rove now that we go all the way to the Writing Center. We don't want the folks working in the back to feel too lonely. Along the way, if possible, be on the look-out to erase the whiteboards and clean table tops if they look like they need it. Please report any out-of-order computers to the OIT classroom student staff to ensure that they get logged into the trouble-ticket system (and the proper out-of-order sign).

Thanks.

All LC student staff are invited to attend one of two workshops on Customer Service that the library will be offering in October. You will be $$ paid $$ for the time you spend at the session, AND there will be snacks, AND you'll get to check out the newly renovated 26th floor. What more could you ask for?

The workshops will be held on Thursday, October 19, at the following times:

9-11:30 am
1:30-4 pm

both on the 26th floor.
If you'd like to attend, please email staffdev@library.umass.edu, let them know which session you'd like to attend, and mention that you're a student worker at the LC.

Thanks! And let me know if you have any questions.
Emily

Fellow rovers...

When roving please be sure to check to copiers to make sure that they are not jammed. If you don't feel confident unjamming the machines, please see the supervisor.

Also, please clean whiteboards and table tops if the rooms are unoccupied...it is our job to make sure that the LC stays clean.

Thanks!

Another FYI:

OIT will be holding Cyber Security Awareness month:

http://www.oit.umass.edu/virus/cybersecurity06.html
FYI

The only computers that one should log into as "techdesk" are the two library computers (the two front computers facing out towards the stairs). Staff/students should not log onto OIT computers using any library login...only use your OIT username and password for OIT computers. We thank you.
