WRITING CENTER BOOKS

Below is a quote from Leslie Button regarding the Writing Center Collection:

"We have ordered a small number of ready reference materials to be shelved at the Writing Center to support student research needs in the Learning Commons collaborative environment. A link to a list of those titles is attached to this message. While these books will be shelved at the Writing Center (on shelves in the alcove immediately to the left of the Calipari Room entrance), they are part of the Library collection. The Signage Committee has created signs so users can easily find these materials.
The books will have call number labels and a “Writing Center” label on the spine (or front cover). The catalog records have a note that reads “Shelved at Writing Center.” To see an example of how the note displays, look up "Blue book of grammar and punctuation" as a title in the Web OPAC. Users can consult these new resources, but will not be able to borrow them (so the materials are available for others to use when they need them). "

If we find these books out and about, please check them in through Milcirc...the directions to do this are in this blog. If you have any questions about these instructions, please ask your instructer to show you how to do this.
Coming soon...! Like very soon!

The Writing Center will be having its own set of books. It will be our job to make sure that these books get shelved back in the Writing Center area.

There is an important procedure that we must follow in order to keep track of the usage stats of these books.

Please see the instructions at the desk (or below) for this or ask your supervisor.

BACK TO REALITY!

Hopefully everybody has had a great holiday break. The LC has been on the quiet side, especially the week between Christmas and New Years. Now we are in the midst of intersession, the LC is beginning to get more active. It's been really great to kind of relax and try to get organized.

But, with that said, we are now going to get back to our regularly scheduled program! This means let's get back to taking reliable stats, roving and our regular duties of cleaning, paper stocking and general helpfulness! We'll be updating some of our procedures as well as doing an orientation for new and current student staff. Check back here to see when the orientation will be scheduled.

Thanks everybody!
